KYTHE new DJ Decks Strike the Right Note at the Hub
During the October holidays, ‘DJAndyB’ lead young people at KYTHE in a DJ workshop. The enthusiasm for this led to a successful funding bid to the Gannochy Trust Youth Panel, and we now have our very own set of DJ decks!
During the recent April holidays, we had more workshops. Led by Andy, who brought along his own set-up, we were able to run two small groups simultaneously. The session was a huge hit, with everyone getting involved, trying something new, and having a great time.
The enthusiasm didn’t stop there. The young people were invited to showcase their new talents at our “Altitude: Rave Edition” the following evening. While a few felt ready to take the stage, a special highlight was a 45-minute set by Jake and Tiki – a confident, polished performance that wouldn’t have been out of place at a professional gig!
With more performance opportunities ahead, including a chance to play at Gannochy youth nights, this is just the beginning.
This fantastic addition is already making a real impact, giving young people the chance to explore music in a hands-on, creative way while building confidence and new skills. Jake said, ‘Having new DJ decks has helped me learn a new skill and helped with confidence, it was great performing in front of people,’ with Tiki saying ‘I love it! I have found my love for a new hobby – music! It really helped me grow my confidence and helped me learn new skills’.
