Maria was referred to KYTHE, as she had not been engaging with school, but was interested in art. She met Katy-Beth at one of her art classes, and agreed to do the woodworking project in the hopes of expanding her portfolio and one day attending an art college. she has enjoyed the course so much more than she ever expected and really wants to do some more, and therefore was asked to attend Katy-Beth’s next art group as a young volunteer, which she did, and she did a wonderful job too. Following that, she has also volunteered at one of Mobile KYTHE’s events; attends Friday drop-in and is completing her Youth Achievement award.

Maria said to Katy-Beth “Thank you so much. I feel being involved more in all the arty projects you do, have helped me a lot to be a lot more confident with who I am. I feel because we both love art and are weird in the best way possible, you have definitely helped me be more confident, so thank you so much and I’m really grateful for your help.
